Considered
the benchmark in U.S. wine festivals, the Paso Robles-based Hospice
du Rhône takes place over a three-day period,
and involves events such as seminars, wine tastings, a live auction, and
gourmet meals.
From its modest beginnings as The
Viognier Guild, Mat Garretson and John Alban debuted the Hospice
du Rhône in 1993, envisioning it as a conference of winemakers and vintners
who were passionate about wines originating from
the Rhône Valley in France. Since that time, HdR has become an international
must-attend event for both winemakers and
wine enthusiasts. The photos on the following pages are from the 19th annual (2010)
event, and offer a look at some of the sights from the
festival, whose theme this year (right) was "So You Think You Can Rhône?". |
